On a day kissed by the autumn sun, the Eternal City promoted an event that will leave an indelible mark on the fabric of urban mobility.
The spotlight turned on Thursday, October 5, 2023, on a project with a bold mission: the decarbonization of transportation and urban mobility. tmr, an active member of theNational Sharing Mobility Observatory since 2017, participated and discussed the topic of sustainability at the 7th “LESSCARS: decarbonization of urban mobility” conference.
The conference, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation, the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security and the Foundation for Sustainable Development, was held at the prestigious headquarters of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti in Rome. The words that permeated the air were loaded with hope, perspective and, most importantly, concrete action.
A positive scenario unfolded before the eyes of the public hungry for change, highlighting the urgent need to embrace green alternatives, including sustainable mobility. The goal? Dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions that are currently choking our planet. The way forward is clear: increase the use of electric cars and plug-in hybrids while simultaneously reducing the private motoring rate.
However, the key element of this silent revolution lies in the expansion of public transportation and sharing mobility offerings. One bold estimate predicts that a 30 percent increase in these modes of transportation could lead to a monumental reduction of about 18 million tons of greenhouse gases. An achievement that would not only change the way we get around, but also make a lasting imprint in the fight against climate change.
“This is the only planet we have,” we have always repeated, with the conviction that, together, we can accomplish the impossible and lead our cities and territory toward a greener future. This event is not only a celebration of sustainable mobility, but also a confirmation of tmr ‘s unwavering commitment to a common goal of sustainable transportation.
